This will be the 8th annual ladies only Leeds Midnight Walk in aid of St Gemma’s Hospice and this year’s is not one to miss. The 7 or 10 mile circular walk around Kirkstall, Horsforth and West Park is set along well lit streets, starting and finishing at Xercise 4 Less gym on Kirkstall Road. Once you sign up each walker will receive a fundraising pack full of information as well as a stylish t-shirt to wear on your training walks and on the night of the walk.
If you are the creative type then why not unleash your creative flare and come in fancy dress! We’ll have a photographer on the night to capture your fantastic outfits! Registration starts at 8pm where there will be a brilliant party atmosphere awaiting you with entertainment, live music, raffles, face painting, henna art and stalls. There will also be hot food vendors on site so you can buy your dinner on the evening to give you that extra energy for your challenge ahead. We will make sure you are all warmed up and ready to pound the pavements by having a fitness instructor lead a warm up session just before you set off at 10pm. There are half way stops on each of the routes where you can have a drink, quick energy snack and visit the loo. Maybe even rest your feet in preparation for the return journey.
This really is a fantastic event packed with excitement, uplifting stories, inspirational women and a really positive atmosphere. After you have completed the walk either with friends, family, colleagues or on your own you will feel such a huge sense of achievement. Your hard work, commitment and sponsorship will not only directly help a patient now, it will also help create long lasting memories for the families that patient leaves behind – memories of special, pain free, comfortable and dignified times with their loved one. These times are only possible at St Gemma’s with your help. So it may only be a one night challenge for you, but rest assured that one night of support from you gives many nights of support to our patients and their families!
When you come back though the doors on completion of the walk, a well deserved medal will be placed around your neck for you to wear proudly to show people what a fantastic challenge you have achieved. You will also get a certificate to take away and there will be a much deserved hot drink and snack waiting for you. Oh and how did we forget…..there is also a Cath Kidston goody bag for every walker!
Why wouldn’t you sign up after hearing all that…..go on, get your pals together and sign up today! Do your bit for your local Hospice and feel a huge sense of pride!
